God Stories

GOD STORIES

God stories are the eye witness accounts or testimonies of God's goodness in our lives. We need to tell our God stories beacause they are ultimatley His, to make His glory known throughout the earth! When others hear our history with God they will have a future with Him! Our God stories prophecy so that the same miracle can take place again! (Revelation 19:10). Send your God stories to info@urbanlife.org.za.

A Clean Bill of Health!
I have been battling a few years with a chronic disease called Ulcerative Colitis. This is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks itself, thinking it is attacking something that is harming my body. My colon was attacking itself with my colon wall forming painful ulcers to try and contain the attack. There is no cure for this disease and doctors can only give you medication to help your symptoms. This disease robbed me of a better quality of life and I made a decision to trust God for healing and not accept this sentence. My health started improving this year and when I went for my last colonoscopy the docters said they could see no more ulcers! God has healed me! Nothing is impossible for Him to heal! Sale of a House
I was visiting you in February and you were doing a series on 100% Life in Christ! You called people up who wanted prayer to be free of debt, free of drugs and wanted to sell their homes.  Of course both my hands went up. That was on the 21st Feb.  You also prayed for me again on 28th Feb to sell my house. Well! How great is our God! My house was sold on the 27th March!  Quite unexpectantly. It was not advertised, not with estate agents, not ready to be sold, not even "dickyed up", nothing!! A couple came along, like the location and there!  It is sold! Now is that not a "GOD THING". Please tell all you guys, that God is alive and well on this planet Earth!

The Father works in little ones!
On the 25 Feb 2010 Lerato from the Babies Home (age 3) was having a challenging day and had been sent to me in the office for a chat three times! Elma and I had prayed over him as nothing else seemed to help. The fourth time he came to the office, I sat him in the naughty corner and ignored him. I sat at my desk and started praying out loud asking God to heal the anger in his heart and help him to be a happy boy. I then heard his little voice from the corner saying, "I don't want to be angry in my heart". So I asked him if he wanted to pray and ask Jesus to take the Angry out of his heart and make him happy. He said yes so I led him in a little prayer asking Jesus to take away the anger and make him happy. His behaviour has been changing and I believe that God is doing a work in his life. When Elma was telling them a story about Saul on the road to Damascus encountering God, Lerato was so stirred by the story he felt he wanted to pray for everyone! It's God at work revealing Himself even to little ones. (Barbara Key).

God the Healer
Terri Kyle was diagnosed with stomach and lymph gland cancer last year March. She went for Chemo and the next few months were very difficult. Terri trusted God for healing! After going for a check up this week, the doctor told her that the cancer is in remission now and the doctor said he cannot even see traces of cancer in her lymph glands. God is good!

Generosity = Breakthrough
The Midrand Urban Market Team decided to do the market differently to how it has been done before! God spoke and they decided to let the traders trade for free. They wanted to be a blessing to the community even though they knew they would make no money! No flyers were even sent out... well this ended up being the busiest market ever! Traders say that they have never done as well as they did that day! Here are some of the stories from the traders:

1) Thanks for the opportunity for allowing me to trade at the Urban Market on Saturday. I must say I was so blessed with the amount of sales I have done with the sandals. I could not believe how well I have done.
2) The market was absolutely stunning. I trade at other markets and I must say this was one of the best market I been to, in terms of safety., cleanliness etc…It was so clean, the setup was very good, there was not much duplication of stalls and the quality and the products of the stalls was absolutely great. The atmosphere was awesome. Can you please tell me when will be the next market day.
3) Just to let you know that the Urban Market on Saturday was a great success and congratulations to you and the entire team for the great work put into making it so remarkably organised and fun. I had a great response with my beaded jeans and accessories and people have requested me to add handbags to my stall as well. Would that be possible or is there already someone wanting to sell handbags? Kindly let me know if I would be allowed to sell them as well?

God really came through for the Urban Market Team! (Bronwen Del Paggio - 10 March 2010)

Two in One
1. "On the 8th July 2009 my wife,Magret, fell and fractured her right wrist. A week later she could'nt steady herself and fell again and fractured 4 ribs with one rib puncturing the lung. She was taken to Sunnininghill Hospital by Ambulance and admitted to the Trauma ICU. Two days later she was transferred to High Care in the Trauma Section. One day she and another patient, also a Christian, shared testimonies. It made such an impression on a third patient, coming from Mauricius, in the same hall that during the night she accepted Christ. After a week in hospital, Magret was discharged and we went to stay with Alida in her guest house for a week. There we met "Oom Piet", one of Alida's patients. We had the privelege to lead him to the Lord. The moral of the story is : 4 ribs - 2 souls!"
2. "On the 25th of February 2010, at 1 o clock at night, Magret had a heart attack. She lost consciousness for a few minutes, but then came around. Until the morning she had a few of these attacks. On Friday morning we took her to Sunninghill Hospital were she was admitted to the CCU (Cardiac Care Unit). On Saturday morning the cardiologist, Dr Eric Klug, said to her : "Mrs Janse van Rensburg, you are a very lucky lady. You should have been dead." She then told him that many church members were praying for her. He replied that they must pray for him as well! Magret recovered miraculously and was discharged on Sunday 28 February". Rescued at the side of the Road!
"Last Monday at 14h00 I was on the N1 just after the New Road off-ramp going North to Midstream to fetch my daughter Miriam from school.  I had to pull off to the side of the road because as I subsequently found out I suffered an attack of Menieres disease. It is called an attack because of the sudden and unexpected onset of vertigo, extreme nausea and vomiting that can leave one incapacitated for hours, unable to stand and sit or do anything besides lying down with eyes closed. I have once previously had an attack but was wrongly diagnosed and hospitalized with food poisoning.  I recognized the symptoms and knew I had to quickly contact someone to fetch my daughter. I managed to send a sms to Lynda van Loon and my husband Jurgens who was in Tanzania to pray. Lynda forwarded the sms to our other friends.  I knew it would take a while and would be very inconvenient for my friends to help me.  I prayed out loud in tongues and cried to Jesus for help. Then I got a sms from Carly Wilson saying that she was praying and offering help as she had the day off work.  I asked her to please fetch Miriam.  Thank God she was available to help. While I was vomiting a car stopped with a young man and his wife.  He is a mechanic and thought I had mechanical problems with the car but one look at me and he offered to take me to the hospital.  I asked him to rather take me home and I would decide from there after Carli arrived with Miriam. When he stopped I noticed this man had a huge cross hanging from his rear-view mirror. I would be very distracted with such a big object hanging from my mirror.  When I asked him, he confirmed that he is a Christian. He drove my car and his wife followed us all the way to Vorna Valley via the Olifantsforntein off-ramp.  On the way he had to make a few scary stops like a taxi driver to allow me to open the door and be sick. Poor man – what a cargo! When we got home I thanked him and said I would be fine till Carly came but he insisted on staying and left when Carly arrived. Carly stayed from 15h00 – 18h00 till she saw I was recovering. I want to praise God for this stranger who helped me and for a Christian sister who was available to help in my time of need and for the others who prayed." (Marina van Zyl- 4 March 2010)

100% new LIFE
"A short story of success and prosperity and all the rest of it. I come from a broken up childhood and pretty ugly experiences. I was married to a muslim converted to a muslim and had 2 children in the marriage, Totally confused and broken up and having no sense or Idea about God at all. I met up with Ros at Urban Life whom I had met previously in a brief encounter at AA. I came to Urban Life totally lost and confused spiritually. I knew from the 1st day that I had to give my life to JESUS and I did. I felt included in the family of URBAN LIFE since the very 1st day. I took a leap of faith and started tithing the full tithe from then on, God has increased my income to overflowing and the opportunities to grow have just been pouring in, I have finally started living a 100% good life. Yesterday I Heard that I have won an Incentive trip to China against all the odds that were against me. I have learnt that God NEVER gives up on us. I LOVE JESUS. I am addiction free not only did I stop drinking I also stopped smoking as well. I was an Alcoholic. I was told as a child that In would never be able to drive because I was accident prone, I was afraid of driving because of a previous accident that I had as a child. I bought a car cash in the middle of last year and started teaching myself to drive. I got my license on the 24th February 2010 at the age of 41. Thank you FATHER."
